    9 Dead In Rajouri Road Accident

    JAMMU– At least nine people on Thursday were killed and 38 others wounded in a tragic road accident in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.

    The accident occurred when a bus JK02AL-1361 fell into 150-meter deep gorge in Lamberi village of Rajouri district today afternoon, officials said. The bus was on its way from Surankote to Jammu when it skidded off the road before plunging into the gorge near Siot.

    At least six people, officials said died on the spot, as a rescue operation, assisted by the locals was started.Road-Accident

    Officials said that the death toll rose after an injured died at the Sub-District Hospital Sundarbani while two others breathed their last while they were being removed to Jammu hospital.

    “9 people are dead while 38 others have sustained injuries in the accident,” Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Nowshera, S S Sandyal said.

    Among the injured, Sandyal said 14 have been shifted to Jammu hospital for specialized treatment. Four among them were airlifted, he said.

    The deceased persons have been identified as Abdul Gani, son of Karim Baksh, resident of Poonch, Saqib Sahraj, son of Muhammad Sehraj, resident of Busliyas Surankote, Wahab-ud-din Shah, son of Yasin Shah, resident of Dungi Agrati, Amkala, son of Ahmad, resident of Sangla Surankote, Manzoor Hussain, son of Alam-ud-din, resident of Draba Surankote, Anur Khan, son of Sehraz-ud-din of Mohri Katra and Ehsan-ul-Haq, son of Abdul Haq of Surankote.

    Meanwhile, the officials said that the identity of two other deceased was being ascertained.
