BJP, Congress failed to represent Jammu region in Parliament: Harsh

KATHUA: Despite repeated opportunities given to Congress and BJP to represent Jammu region in Lok Sabha, people of this marginalized region were a disappointed lot, said Harsh Dev Singh, JKNPP Chairman and Former Minister. “These are parties that continued to get peoples’ mandate for last about 70 years one after another but failed on each occasion to live up to the expectations of their electorates with their dismal performance in the Parliament having antagonized even their own voters,” said Singh.
“Jammu region and its peculiar problems never become the epicentre of discussions like Kashmir which found a mention in the Parliament on almost day to day basis. With BJP MPs also toeing their party line on J&K, entire focus of Parliamentary debates on J&K remained confined to Kashmir region only,” Singh said while addressing public meetings at Marheen, Jandur, Mangloor and Babiyan segments of Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency.
Asserting that Panthers party was lone crusader for cause of Jammu region, Singh urged people to vote and support it for the ultimate good of the region. “Nothing can be expected from those who have been repeatedly tried and tested. They failed their electorates earlier also and they would do the same again. Several of these MP candidates were changing parties and some were para-troopers. They hardly had conviction or consistency in their approach with their political philosophy changing with every election. The way they changed colours would put even a chameleon to shame. These political toddlers and para-troopers, devoid of any political ideology, were concerned only about their personal interests rather than the public good and needed to be appropriately replied by the people”, said Singh.
Regretting failure of the Saffron MPs in projecting the cause of Jammu region in Parliament, Singh said that they had lost the right to seek peoples’ votes.
“They had no moral authority to represent Jammu region. Besides having cheated the people on all core issues, they had meekly surrendered over their age old slogans of abrogation of Art 370 and Art 35-A. They had failed to adequately safe-guard our pluralistic ethos. Both BJP and Congress MPs remained mute spectators in the face of gross neglect of Jammu region even by the GOI apart from the State Government. Their leadership failed to protect and safeguard even the honour and dignity of the people of Jammu in testing times thereby shaking the faith of the people in all these parties,” said Harsh.
Urging people to support Panthers Party, Harsh Dev Singh said that NPP alone had the political will and capacity to counter all anti-Jammu forces. He said that NPP was a secular democratic party, which respected all faiths and religions and believed in humanitarian values and brotherhood as against divisive politics of opportunist power-hungry political parties.
