    COVID-19: 3 Bakers among 40 new cases reported in J&K, tally mounts to 1489

    Jammu,May 22: Three bakers, a mutton dealer and a year-old boy were among 40 people who tested positive for the Coronavirus on Friday in taking the total tally of positive cases in the UT to 1489 Bakers testing positive for the deadly pandemic comes at a time when people are flooding Bakery shops to buy various varieties of biscuits, cakes etc ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr slated for Sunday or Monday, depending on the sighting of moon. At the same time, people are also flooding the shops of mutton sellers in view of the upcoming festival of Eid as cooking mutton varieties has been the long practice of Kashmiri peopleOfficials  said that among new 40 cases, 10 were tested positive at SKIMS, 07 at CD hospital, 16 at JVC Bemina, one at Army’s command hospital Srinagar and rest at other private labs.Among 40 new cases, 33 belong to Kashmir division while as 07 are from Jammu division, officials said, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 1271 including 650 recoveries and 18 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division has reached to 218 including 70 recoveries and 2 deathsThey added that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 603 including 605 from Kashmir division and 146 from Jammu division. “Cases tested positive in J&K include 2 from Anantnag, 1 from Kulgam,2 from Srinagar, 1 from Budgam 3 from Kupwara, 18 from Shopian, 3 from Baramulla and 2 from Pulwamain Kashmir division while as 8 from Jammu including 4  from Samba district, 2 from Rajouri and one from Poonch,” officials disclosedDr G H Yatoo Nodal officer for Covid-19 at SKIMS  said that out of 2088 samples tested on Friday 10 were found positive and 8782 samples are waiting for testsHe said that among 10 new positive cases, 03 each are from Baramulla and Kupwara, 02 from Shopian and 01 each from Srinagar and Budgam Dr.Salim Khan Nodal officer for Covid-19 at GMC  Sringar said that 756 samples tested at CD hospital, 07 were found positive while as reports of 166 samples are pending and over 800 samples were received on Friday.The positive cases include 65-year-old female from MalnagAnantnag, 85-year-old-male from QazigundKulgam, 25 year old male from Drarangan Anantnag, 38 year old lady from Bandipora, admitted at LD hospital being shifted to JVC Bemina, 48-year-old lady from Kargil admitted at SMHS suffering from Pneumonia and 30 and 55 year old males from Pingelan  PulwamaOfficials from Pulwama said that consequent upon the random aggressive sampling taking place in red zone villages of Pulwama ,two bakers belonging to common family in Pinglena have tested positive for COVID-19They said that a total no 21 cases have tested positive of COVID-19 in the district including 12 active positive cases besides nine recovered ones. They further added that aggressive contact tracing has been initiated and all the contacts are being sampled besides placing the suspects in administrative quarantine Officials from Shopian said a lady from Chatawatan was tested positive for coronavirus were tested positive, dozens of samples were taken from the village, among them 16 were tested positive, among them one belongs to the family of already positive patient while as 15 are her neighbours They further added that the other two patients from the district are from Palpora and Memendar villages of district, among them one is Baker and other a mutton seller. Officials from JVC Bemina said that out of 378 samples tested at the hospital on Friday, 16 all from Chatawatan Shopian were found positive .They said that 16 positive cases include 8 males of age 1, 18, 24, 25, 28, 30, 45 and 65 and 8 females of age 7, 15, 17, 19, 26, 42, 65 and 70 .  Lt Col Inam Danish Khan from Army’s Command Hospital Udhampur said that out of 832 samples tested at the hospital, a traveler from Budgam has been tested positiveAccording to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 1489 positive cases, 749 are Active Positive, 720 have recovered and 20 have died; 02 in Jammu division and 18 in Kashmir division.Moreover, 36 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 01 from Jammu division and 35 from Kashmir Division.The Bulletin further said that out of 114859 test results available, 113370 samples have been tested as negative till May 22, 2020.Additionally, till date 128517 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 32077 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 73 in Hospital Quarantine, 749 in hospital isolation and 25132 under home surveillance. Besides, 70466 persons have completed their surveillance period.Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Bandipora has 138 positive cases (including 01 case reported today) with 08 Active Positive, 129 recovered (including 01 case recovered today), 01 death; Srinagar has 176 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 71 Active Positive, 99 recovered (including 02 cases recovered today), 06 deaths; Anantnag district has 266 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today), with 153 Active Positive, 109 recovered (including 20 cases recovered today),  04 deaths; Baramulla has 132 positive cases (including 03 cases reported today) with 37 Active Positive, 91 recovered, 04 deaths; Shopian has 127 positive cases (including 18 cases reported today) with 25 Active Positive, 102 recovered (including 04 cases recovered today); Kupwara has 128 positive cases (including 03 cases reported today) with 79 Active Positive, 49 recovered (including 01 case recovered today); Budgam has 63 positive cases (including 01 case reported today), with 26 Active Positive and 35 recovered cases (including 05 cases recovered today)  and 02 deaths; Ganderbal has 27 positive cases with 12 Active cases and 15 recoveries; Kulgam has 193 positive cases (including 01 reported today), with 180 Active Positive and  12 recoveries (including 02 cases reported today) and 01 death and Pulwama reported 21 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 12 active positive, 09 recovered.Similarly, Jammu has 68 positive cases with 36 active positive cases and 31 recoveries and 01 death; Udhampur has 33 positive cases with 11 active positive case, 21 recovered and 01 death; Samba has 20 positive cases (including 04 cases reported today) with 13 Active Positive and 07 recoveries (including 01 case recovered today); Rajouri has 10 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 06 active positive cases and 04 recovered; Kathua has 40 positive cases with 36 Active positive and 04 recovered; Kishtwar has 07 positive case with 06 active positive case and 01 recovered; Ramban has 30 positive cases with 29 active positive and 01 recovered; Reasi has 04 positive cases with 03 active positive and 01 recovered, Poonch has 05 positive cases (including 01 case reported today) with 05 active positive cases while Doda has 01 active positive case.
