Jammu. Nov 13: Justifying demand of Udyog Bhawan Employees Association to limit working days to five, Civil Society for Development of J&K State (CSD J&K) president Puneet Singh Jamwal today said that all offices including civil secretariat should function simultaneously and there should be no difference in their working hours or holidays.
The CSD J&K Chief said “now that working hours of all government employees have almost become at par with that of civil secretariat employees, the former should also be entitled to work for five days”. While on Saturdays all government offices remain functional civil secretariat stays closed. There should be parity with all government employees.
He said while private sectors has started encouraging flexible working hours including working from home, increased working hours and six day week will adversely affect health of employees and put them under unnecessary stress. There’s also a need of improving working conditions by adding proper canteen facilities and office infrastructure besides proper heating in all government offices so that a good working culture is developed.
The CSD J&K said that the way employees are being checked and made to function it’s a good sign of governance. This way public delivery system will improve besides employees too will have an organised working hours wherein they can also segregate their hours for different functions including that for office work and public dealing.
Puneet Singh Jamwal also urged Governor to ensure that government employees of Darbar move are provided with adequate facilities. The reisdential accomodations at Kachi Chawni and Please, he added have become contested and comprises of only one room set besides there’s not enough parking space there.
He said that in proper consultation with employees, if needed, some good and sufficiently green locations should be identified for constructing new and modern residential apartments with enough parking spaces. This way employees will have better and spacious living conditions while existing areas can be developed into underground parking’s and parks. This all could be a proposal worth discussing with employees before executing it.
