Female Students stage protest alleging harassment in KU

Srinagar, Apr 27: The students of Bibi Amina girl’s hostel at University of Kashmir (KU) on Friday protested against the concerned warden for allegedly harassing the Students.
The students were demanding re-election to elect new student representatives.
The protesting student’s said, “We are protesting against the hostel warden who is mentally harassing us and is threatening us that she will call our parents if we raised this issue with anyone.”
One of the students told Agencies that they have been tolerating that warden for a long time but they wanted her to be removed and also sought new student representatives.
Students said, “There are around 175 the Students in Bibi Amina girls hostel and the representatives of the hostel are been chosen by the students by a process of election, but there seems to be no authority who will take care of monitoring the happening in and outside the hostel.”
Hostel warden, Lubna Bhat said, “I am not doing any mental harassment with anyone but there are two groups in the hostels who have no mutual understanding in between and that are why there come such issues.”
She said, “Some days back I was not in the hostel and one of the groups had started the campaigning of re-elections on behalf of me.”
She said that “I told the students that I have no problem for if they want re-election for the representatives but on one condition that the elections will be held in my presence.”
Bhat further said, “Yesterday, when I asked her about the incident, she screamed at me for which I told her that I will call your parents for misbehaving with me.”
