Srinagar, June 23: Security forces have intensified searches and frisking in the summer capital, Srinagar to foil any attempt by militants to smuggle arms and ammunition into the city, which has witnessed an increase in militant activities.
Security forces have established naka checking at several places in the city, including Qamarwari, Kaksarai, Batamaloo and M A road.
The security personnel are checking passing vehicles, particularly two wheelers, before allowing them to go ahead.
”We have directions to conduct random searches of vehicles and check the identity cards of those boarding the vehicles,” a security force jawan said at Budshah Bridge.
“All three wheelers besides motorcycles and scooters were being properly searched before allowing them to go,” they added.
