    Govt orders magisterial inquiry into Gool killing

    Ramban, Aug 6: Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday ordered a magisterial inquiry into the killing of cattle trader in army firing in Kohli area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district yesterday.
    The deputy commissioner Ramban Shoukat Ajaz Bhat confirmed that a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
    He said SDM Gool will conduct the inquiry and submit the report to his office within a given time frame.
    Bhat said that a compensation of Rs 5 lakhs has been announced for the family of the deceased.
    He said the injured person Shakeel Ahmad admitted at GMC Jammu is stable now.
    Soldiers early Sunday had shot dead Gujjar in a village of Gool area in mountainous Ramban district of the state.
    Gujjar (28) and Shakeel Ahmad (30) were fired upon by soldiers of army’s 58 Rashtriya Rifles unit when they were leaving Kohli village around 4am, a police had official said yesterday.
    He said Gujjar died on the spot and Ahmad who was injured in the firing was removed to district hospital Ramban for treatment.
    Both the persons, according to locals, were engaged in cattle trade.
    A case under FIR number 38/18 under section 302 (Murder), 307 (Attempt to murder) was also registered against the 58 RR army unit at Dharamkund police station.
