    India fully committed to make SCO stronger to effectively tackle common contemporary challenges, says Rajnath Singh

    Monitoring Desk,28-Apr; Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that India is fully committed to make Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) stronger to effectively tackle common contemporary challenges faced by the member countries. He stressed on the need to focus on the common agenda to ensure a secure, stable and prosperous region and said that India views SCO as an important entity to promote defense cooperation among member states.

    In his opening remarks at the SCO Defence Ministers meeting, Mr. Rajnath Singh added, there have been great cultural and civilizational linkages and a continuous exchange of people, ideas and goods among the member countries over the centuries, which has enriched the nations economically and culturally.

    India is chairing the SCO for the first time since it became a full member of this organization in 2017. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is chairing SCO Defence Ministers meeting in New Delhi today. Defence Ministers of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are participating in the meeting. India has invited Belarus and Iran as observer countries in the meeting and the Defence Minister of Pakistan is participating virtually.
