Karvan-e-Aman bus to PoK resumes after suspension last week

Srinagar: The Karvan-e-Aman bus run to Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK), resumed on Monday after remaining suspended last week, official sources said.
The weekly bus left Bemina, Srinagar, this morning for POK, they told UNI.
The cross-Line of Control (LoC) bus has since reached Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC), at Uri where more passengers will board before it leaves for Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC. The exact number of passengers crossing over to other side of the LoC will be known in the afternoon, they said.
Similarly, the passengers travelling from PoK to Srinagar will also be known in the evening. The number of passengers travelling from POK to meet their relatives, separated due to partition in 1947, decreases during winter when the temperature goes down tow below freezing. However, the number increases during summer when temperature remained pleasant in the valley.
Similarly, the number of Kashmiris travelling to other side of the LoC increases during winter and decreases in the summer.
Source said passengers who could not travel last week due to cancellation of the bus run have been accommodated this time.
The bus was cancelled last week after PoK government announced holiday last month when funeral of Sardar Khalid, son of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan (70), founder President of PoK was held at Rawlakote.
The bus service, introduced on April 7, 2005 has helped thousands of people, divided due to partition, to meet each other by travelling on “ travel permits” instead of International Passports.
