    Kashmir shuts on second consecutive day to safeguard Article 35 A

    Srinagar, Aug 6: A complete shutdown is being observed on the second consecutive day today against the attempts to abrogate special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
    Public transport remained off the roads and very few private vehicles were seen plying in Srinagar city and other district towns in the Valley. Government forces have been deployed in strength at vulnerable places in the city and elsewhere in Kashmir to maintain law and order.
    Various organizations including Bar Association, traders ‘and transport bodies have extended their support to the JRL’s shutdown call.
    Protest have been held across the length and breadth of Kashmir over the past few days with mainstream parties like National Conference and PDP also holding rallies in support of continuing with Article 35 A.
    Meanwhile, the ongoing Amarnath Yatra from Jammu to the cave shrine in the Kashmir Valley also remained partially suspended for the second day two days due to the shutdown.
    The Srinagar-Banihal train services have been suspended across Kashmir, keeping in view of the shutdown call. “We have suspended all trains between Srinagar-Budgam-in central Kashmir to Baramulla in north Kashmir today,” a Railway official said.
    Similarly, no train will chug on Budgam-Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir and Banihal in Jammu region, he said.
