Meerut: PM Narendra Modi reached Meerut in Uttar Pradesh to kick off his election campaign on Thursday. He will address the ‘Vijay Sankalp’ here after which he is expected to hold public meetings in Jammu and Rudrapur in Uttarakhand.
“PM Modi will be starting the election campaign from tomorrow and will come to Jammu and Kashmir on the first day of the campaign itself, which also shows our commitment towards the state,” BJP general secretary Ram Madhav said in a statement.
The elections in UP will be conducted in seven phases beginning Aprill 11. The counting of votes will be held on May 23.
In 2014, BJP won three out of six parliamentary seats in the J&K: Jammu, Udhampur, and Ladakh. The state will vote for the Lok Sabha elections in five phases – April 11, 18, 23, 29 and May 6. Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
