    Man shot dead outside Farooq Abdullah’s residence

    Srinagar, Aug 4: A man was shot dead by security personnel on Saturday while trying to enter Jammu and Kashmir former chief minister Farooq Abdullah’s house in Jammu, police said.
    The intruder tried to drive his SUV through the gate of the former chief minister’s Bhatindi residence around 9.30 am and was shot.
    Identified as Murad Ali Shah, drove his black colour SUV almost 500 meters inside the barricaded premises when it was attacked by the guards of the house. The vehicle bore registration nO JK02 BW 0568. The details of the incident are still shrouded in mystery. One report said that the slain man was a school drop-out. Some reports said he does not seem to be a militant.
    “I am aware of the incident that took place at the residence of my father and I share in Bhatindhi, Jammu,” Omar Abdullah tweeted. “details are sketchy at the moment. Initial reporters suggest that an intruder was able to gain entry through the front door and into the upper lobby of the house.”
