Movie Review: Baazaar’s stocks are not worth buying!

    baazaar1

Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Rohan Mehra, Radhika Apte, Chitrangada Singh

    Director: Gauravv K. Chawla

    Rating: **

The world of the stock market and trading is a mysterious world when you are not aware of it. From the outside, it looks very smooth but from inside it’s very complicated. ‘Baazaar’ is not different.

The story revolves around Shakun Kothari (Saif Ali Khan) and Rizwan Ahmed (Rohan Mehra).

Rizwan is a bright young lad with lots of dreams, he idolizes Shakun who is the wolf of the stock market and known for his acumen. Rizwan wants to be like him so he leaves his hometown Allahabad and comes to Mumbai to achieve his dreams and how Mumbai manipulates him professionally and emotionally and how he survives, forms the crux of this film.

Baazaar has a strong impact from Hollywood’s Wall Street. Aseem Arora and Parveez Shaikh have tried lots of things but failed to make it gripping. There are few moments in the film which intrigue you but only in patches.

The first half of the film heads nowhere and you feel lost. The second part is good but again it was not able to get your complete attention.

If we talk about the performances of the characters then Saif Ali Khan as Shakun Kothari is good. He portrayed the character of the stock market veteran with ease.

Rohan Mehra has made his debut with this film and he has delivered a good performance though he is not incredible still he has impressed us.

Radhika Apte as Priya is just to add glamour quotient in the film and doesn’t have enough to do.

Chitrangda Singh as Shakun’s wife is a waste in a tiny role.

The music of the film was again a letdown and failed to impress. There is a not a single song in the film which you can remember after coming out of the theatre.

Director Gauravv K. Chawla has also made his directorial debut with Baazaar and he hasn’t done any commendable job.

Overall, Baazaar is a below average film and won’t entice you. So it will be good if you don’t invest in this because Baazaar’s stocks are not worth buying!
