Samba, 05-Nov:District Police Samba has organized Cyber Jaagrookta (awareness) Diwas across district Samba as a part of its programme to make the public aware of emerging cyber crime threats and the measures to follow to avoid becoming victims of cyber fraud.
In today’s cyber awareness drive, the Police officers conducted Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas at Primary School Khadgal, Bari-Brahmana, Govt Degrees College Mandal (Purmandal), Govt. Model Hr. Sec. School, Samba, Govt Higher Secondary School, Ramgarh, Model Educational institute Ghagwal, Govt. Hr. Sec. School Gurha Salathia, Vijaypur and Govt Higher Secondary School Mansar.
During awareness drive, the participants were advised to follow basic Do’s & Don’ts for Cyber Safety/ Cyber Hygiene. They were made aware about various types of cyber frauds and the modus operandi used by the cyber criminals to dupe the innocent people.
The participants were advised to remain alert while doing any activity on the internet and not to share personal credentials/ Bank details/ OTP to any unknown person. Other Basic protocols of Cyber Security were also highlighted during the Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas. The participants were made aware of basic preventive measures/ Safety tips for protection & prevention from Cybercrimes and for safe internet usage.
In Social Media Crime, the participants were advised to frequently change passwords of their social media accounts and enable Two Factor authentication for enhanced security of their accounts. Only known persons should be included in the friend list and friend requests from unknown persons should be avoided.
SSP Samba, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan, IPS on Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas said that the objective of the “Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas” is to educate general public especially youngsters for cyber safe environment and to increase cyber hygiene for prevention of cybercrimes.
