    Separatist leaders attend Pak envoy’s Iftaar party

    New Delhi, June 10: Many separatist leaders, human rights activist and lawyers attended the Iftaar party hosted by Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi on Friday.
    At least eight second-rung separatist leaders flew from Srinagar to New Delhi to attend the Iftaar party hosted by Pakistan High Commission.
    Talking to Rising Kashmir, senior lawyer G N Shaheen said India and Pakistan need to resume dialogue.
    “Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and dialogue is the best way to resolve this problem,” he said.
    Shaheen said they told the Pakistan High Commission about the need for reviving the stalled peace process between India and Pakistan.
    Besides, Shaheen, human rights activist and chairman International Forum for Justice Mohammad Ahsan Awanto, Eng Farooq of Democratic Freedom Party, Hilal Ahmad War of Hurriyat (M), Yasmeen Raja of Hurriyat Conference (G), Advocate Zahid Ali of Jamaat-e-Islami, Shaukat Ahmad Bakshi – JKLF vice chairman and Mohammad Shafiq Bhat, JKLF Zonal vice chairman attended the Iftaar party.
    However top separatist leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mohammad Yasin Malik and Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai could not attend the function because they were under house arrest.
    Pakistan High Commission had invited all Hurriyat leaders in Kashmir to attend the Iftaar party.
    Noted Indian Muslim leaders including Welfare party president Dr S Q R Ilyas, Dr Taslim Ahmad Rehmani, Navaid Hamid president AIMMM, Imam Syed Ahmad Bukhari, former Minorities Commission chairman Dr Tahir Mahmood, former diplomat and vice chancellor Shahid Mehdi and others also attended the Iftaar party.
