Various Sikh Bodies including Sikh Intellectuals Circle, International Sikh Federation and Sikh Students Federation on Friday appealed public at large to boycott the local bodies’ polls in J&K.A press statement issued by the Sikh bodies said that despite knowing about the grim political situation in the State, government forced on people the polls. A meeting chaired by senior Sikh leader S Narinder Singh Khalsa and participated by other Sikh leaders discussed the prevailing uncertain situation in Jammu and Kashmir and said the decision of imposing local bodies election on people of Jammu and Kashmir shows insensitivity of government towards the genuine aspirations and concerns of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. They further said that military might is never going to solve the vexed Kashmir dispute, but rather the political initiative and confidence building measures (CBMs) is only way forward and now when even the two main regional mainstream parties have already boycotted the ULB polls elections.Meanwhile, S Rajinder Singh (Kashmir), S Ranjeet Singh, S Amanjot Singh, S Devinder Singh, S Manmohan Singh, Surinder Singh and S Manjeet Singh appealed UN to facilitate meaningful dialogue between India-Pakistan and people of J&K for peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute.
