Slain militant laid to rest in Pulwama after six rounds of funeral prayers

Srinagar, June 23: Maajid Manzoor Dar, a militant killed in a gunfight with government forces in Anantnag district of south Kashmir yesterday, was laid to rest amid pro-freedom slogans after six rounds of funeral prayers at his native Talangam village in Pulwama district on Saturday morning.
Dar, who owed allegiance to Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir militant group, was killed along with three associates, including the outfit chief Dawood Salafi of HMT Srinagar, in a gunfight with forces in Srigufwara area of Anantnag district on Friday.
Since Friday evening, thousands of mourners from adjoining villages and far-off places had been streaming into the native village of the slain militant to participate in his last rites.
“After six rounds of funeral prayers, he (Dar) was buried around 10:30 am at his ancestral graveyard today,” said a mourner.
