Pulwama, May 02: Two militants were killed in a fierce encounter with government forces in Dangerpora village of Pulwama district on Saturday morning, while several persons were injured in the clashes with the forces, following the killing of these militants in the encounter.
The encounter started on Saturday morning, after a joint team of Army’s 55 RR, SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police and troopers from 182 battalion of CRPF laid a siege of the village following the inputs about the presence of militants in the area.While the forces were zeroing in on the house, where militants were hiding, they came under heavy volley of fire from the holed up militants. Forces replied the fire with light and heavy weapons, resulting in the killing of two militants.Officials said that besides two dead bodies of the slain militants, some arms, ammunition and incriminating material was recovered from the rubbles of the encounter site.Police sources further said that the identity of the slain militants could not be known immediately; however police was on job to ascertain the same. Both the dead bodies were handed over to zonal police Kashmir for future course.
Meanwhile police use force against the youth in the area, who gathered in the area and attempted to hold a protest, against the killing of the militant. Several persons are reported to have been injured in the clashes.Following the encounter authorities snapped 2G internet service in the area.A CRPF jawan was injured when militants lobbed a grenade at a security force party in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Saturday.
A CRPF official said that militants lobbed a grenade at Tahabchowk in Pulwama when security forces were being withdrawn for the day on Saturday evening. “A CRPF constable identified as Suman pradhan, received minor injuries on his left leg and right hand,” he said, adding the wounded was given first aid and is now stable.
He said the militants managed to escape from the spot, adding additional security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers
