Jammu: Professor (Dr.) Pardeep K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-JAMMU inaugurated the Dog Show in the last day of the Vet fest 2018 organised by the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, R.S. Pura.
The star attraction was the Dog Show Competition wherein Pet lovers of Jammu division and R S Pura participated in huge number along with the sizzling performanance of BSF Dog squads. They showed their skills and valour for the public in general. Prizes were distributed among the winners. The overall champion of the show was Dog named CoCo, Breed Lhassa Apso of Mr. Jatin Sharma as said by the Convener of the Sow, Dr. H. R. Bhardwaj. It was followed by the Valedictory function. Prof. (Dr.) K.S.Risam, Director Extension was the Chief Guest and Dr. Parmod Kumar Baru, Ex. Associate Director and Dr. S.D.Bakshi, Ex. DDSW were the Guest of honour. Professor (Dr.) M.M.S. Zama, Dean, while welcoming the guests congratulated the students, Organizers and all those who were involved in the festival for the making it a grand success.
He said that students has given the marvelous performances. Dean further revealed that during the festival, Literary events viz. Debate, Story writing, Mad-ad, Shipwreck, Anchor Hunt, Extempore, and Youth parliament, Poetry Recitation, Poster Making, Essay Writing, Funny News Reading, Best and Funniest Picture; Cultural events viz dance (Solo, Duet and Group), Singing (Solo, Duet and Group), Theater (Skit, Mime, and mono act), Photography and Flower decoration and Sports events viz. badminton, chess, table tennis, carom, cricket, basketball, volleyball, tag of war, 100 and 500 meter race were held. Prizes were distributed among the winners.
Fifth year was declared the overall champion in the whole festival. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) K.S.Risam, Director Extension has said that the students are with a tremendous talent and their energy should be channelized properly by conducted these events regularly. Organizing Secretary, Professor (Dr.) V. S. Wazir, presented the vote of thanks in which he lauded the support from all the members including students who were involved in organizing this festival. Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Deepak Kher, Director Planning all heads of divisions, other staff members, and students of the faculty were present on the occasion.
